Manchester United Soccer School opens in Abu Dhabi
The Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) was officially opened in Abu Dhabi yesterday with the first batch of students registering to embark on a series of football programmes. Representing 13 nationalities from the UAE to the USA, Italy to Indonesia, the students will be among a batch of UAE-based youngsters expected to pass through the coaching facility in Abu Dhabi that now wears the brand of the 11-time English Premiership champions.
The intention is that the unmistakable Dome, home of the UAE’s first air-supported indoor pitch as well as outdoor pitches, will become as synonymous with football excellence as Manchester United’s iconic Old Trafford stadium.
Youngsters enrolling in MUSS programmes in Abu Dhabi will be taught in a way that home-grown current United players like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, and former stars such as George Best and David Beckham, learnt their skills.
Aimed at children aged between seven and 16, the MUSS programmes kicked off yesterday with a six-week course and with a ten-week course to follow.
Parents who want to learn more about upcoming Manchester United Soccer Schools programmes can visit www.manutdsoccerschools.ae or call 02 449 8480.
Accredited and certified MUSS coaches from the UK will employ techniques similar to those used by Manchester United’s first team coaches.
MUSS programmes are also aimed at developing the social skills applicable both on and off the field, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
Andy Dixon, MUSS head coach, said: “All our staff receive specific MUSS training and our programmes are of the quality and authenticity that you would associate with a club such as Manchester United. We use important moments from the club’s past and present to offer inspirational activity at all times.”
