UAE Remains A Hotspot For Luxury Retail Trade

The UAE remains a hotspot for luxury retail trade, with 25 per cent of the Emirates’ residents viewing luxury items as part of their lifestyle, according to published results of a recent survey conducted by research firm Synovate. The number of designer shops, high-end hotels and posh shopping malls is also on a rise in the UAE, especially in Abu Dhabi, thereby making the capital city one among the top locations for upmarket goods. In line with this, ‘Big Boys Toys’ organiser Artaaj revealed its aims to target local HNWIs by offering luxury sector exhibitors a platform to display their finest goods, allowing them to leverage the marked increase in spending pattern and overall market confidence as reflected by the latest estimates by bankers and industry players. The expected rise in consumption and high wealth levels in 2010 opens up excellent prospects for ‘Big Boys Toys’, which will be held at ADNEC from 2nd to 5th February 2011. Growing to accommodate an additional day and more exhibition space, covering an even bigger area, the expanded 2011 edition underlines the growth in the luxury lifestyle market in Abu Dhabi. With the seven original zones: Drive, Ride, Off Road, Marine, Aviation, Digital and Lifestyle, and three new ones: Fitness, Fashion and Adventure, the exhibition is the only complete luxury lifestyle event to be held in the UAE. “With a wave of new malls and hot fashion brands set to hit Abu Dhabi, the capital is making a big splash into the luxury retail market, which will continue to fuel its tourism and retail revenues,” said Biju Jayaraaj, CEO, Artaaj. “As the city carries on with its fast ascent towards becoming one of the largest luxury retail capitals of the word, ‘Big Boys Toys’ will bring the world’s top luxury brands to the Emirates, in line with our aims to satiate the desire of local high net worth consumers for only the best products and services.” ‘Big Boys Toys’ is anticipating an affluent target audience of over 60,000 visitors during its 4-day run. Select exhibitors across 46 luxury brand categories will exhibit, demonstrate and conduct thrilling activities within the event venue. Some of the unique luxury companies who participated at the show’s previous edition include Anderson Mobile Estates, who displayed their customized mobile home created for stars like Will Smith, Vin Diesel and Archimedia Home Entertainment who displayed state of the art home theatre and cinema solutions with innovations such as integrated motion systems which synchronize seating with the onscreen action and sound, creating a virtual-reality experience. "With indicators underlining the optimism of GCC-based HNWIs on their own local economies as well as on the global market, luxury goods are poised for growth, and ‘Big Boys Toys’ is a perfect opportunity for luxury brands to tap into the ever-present affluent market in the region, especially in the UAE. With this year’s event promising to be even bigger and more exciting, ‘Big Boys Toys’ is the one event customers in the region cannot afford to miss,” concluded Jayaraaj.
