UAE Exchange’s birth followed by its transformation into the world’s trusted money transferer has been one incredible journey. This journey has seen the world evolving, with people becoming highly mobile, business crossing the farthest of borders, commercial indices sky rocketing, and the global flow of money thickening.
It was not just the question of moving with the tide, but to set pioneering standards that would help organize the remittance industry, so that it can reliably stand up to the need for managing the heavy fund flows which were increasingly happening across the face of the earth.
We started this movement in 1980 with a small branch in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates. And today, when we look back, we see the fine empire we have built, spreading across five continents, and bringing delight everyday to millions of people. All with the bricks of trust which our customers have reposed on us.
Our beginning
Spurred by the discovery of oil in the sixties, UAE started witnessing an increase in the migration of workers from all over the world, led by Asia, to the UAE. It was a time when the remittance channels were still in their infancy, and when there was a burgeoning need for the expat migrants to send money to their homelands. Two visionary leaders, Dr. B. R. Shetty and HE Abdulla Humaid Al Mazroei identified the need of the market for reliable money transfer channels, and decided to establish a remittance brand which would later take the world by storm. Thus, UAE Exchange opened its first branch in Abu Dhabi in the October of 1980.
The journey
We gained momentum during our journey over the years and expanded our network across the world, turning every challenge into opportunity, and consolidated every market we ventured into, right from North America to the Pacific. We were keen to consistently improve our services and delivery systems through constant innovation, infusing technology which has always met our customers’ aspirations.
