FNC discusses policy of Ministry of Energy and Industry

The Federal National Council, FNC, has stressed the importance of the coordination between the Ministry of Energy and Industry and higher education institutions to scientific research in the renewable energy sector, and to organising academic studies and training programmes to train nationals in renewable energy, which will help the country achieve the UAE Vision 2021 and the Energy Strategy 2050. This came during the 10th session of the fourth ordinary session of its 16th legislative chapter of the Council, which was held today in the Zayed Hall at the FNC’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC.

The FNC highlighted the importance of the UAE’s future strategic planning, which has made it a global platform for discussing the future of energy, in light of its leadership, initiatives and projects, as well as a global model of the energy of the future and renewable and clean energy. It also highlighted the importance of the UAE Green Agenda 2030, the National Climate Change Plan 2050 and the Energy Strategy 2050.

During the discussion, in the presence of Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, the FNC also adopted several recommendations, which will be sent to the FNC Technical, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Committee to add its members’ remarks, and then back to the FNC to present to the government.

Part of the session was attended by a Saudi Shura Council delegation, led by Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Ibrahim Al ash-Sheikh, Chairman of the Council. Dr. Al Qubaisi said that the FNC is proud of the stances of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and expressed her appreciation for the role of the Saudi Shura Council in supporting the parliamentary ties between the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

On the sidelines of the session, Dr. Al Qubaisi stressed that the FNC’s members visited an exhibition organised by the General Command of Civil Defence on the "Hassantak Project for Houses and Properties," which is related to property protection and alarm system using artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies.
