Following last week’s announcement that Aldar Academies had hosted its fourth annual fundraising concert in support of children’s charity initiatives, the organization has revealed the total funds raised during the event. Over 1,100 guests attended the Aldar Academies Collaboration Concert, helping to raise AED60,680 for the UAE’s SmallWorld charity, held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.
The event, hosted at Emirates Palace Theatre on Thursday 4th May 2017, stayed true to the theme of collaboration throughout. Over 600 students from across Aldar Academies’ community of seven leading private schools worked together to host a captivating programme of performances. Meanwhile, parents of Aldar Academies’ students were invited to assist the teachers during rehearsals for the event, and also joined them on stage as part of a choir performance.
Thanks to the generous donations from the Aldar Academies community, SmallWorld will use the funds to support children in need across Somalia.
“The annual student concert is our main charity fundraiser, and it’s fitting that we should add to our generous past donations during the UAE’s Year of Giving, in support of such an important cause,” commented Nilay Ozral, Aldar Academies CEO.
“Collaboration - which is one of our five values, was the theme and focus of this year’s event, and through their charitable efforts, our students also learned the importance of helping and respecting others,” she added.
Following the 2017 student concert – the organization’s fourth consecutive annual fundraiser, Aldar Academies has now raised over AED376,000 for children’s charity initiatives since the event was launched in 2014.
