ADEK Unveils Abu Dhabi’s Initiatives For The 2018 UAE Innovation Month

Over 100 innovators at Innovator 2018.

 

The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) unveiled Abu Dhabi’s initiatives and activitiesto mark the2018 UAE Innovation Month, including Innovator 2018 and the Abu Dhabi Science Festival. Set to launch on 1st February 2018 for a period of seven days, a number of governmental entities, academic organizations, private sectors and innovators are gearing up for their participation in the event.

H.E. Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, ADEK’s Chairman, inaugurated the UAE Innovations 2018 - Abu Dhabi Press Conference in the presence of senior delegates, government officials and various media representatives in the country.

Dr. Al Nuaimi, ADEK’s Chairman, confirmed that our inspirational and motivational leadership has always encouraged innovation and excellence across all fields, highlighting the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to extending the UAE Innovation Week tothe UAE Innovation Month as a testament to the efforts of attracting the best innovators and innovations on a national level.

The UAE leadership is always cooperating with the wider community and its aspirations, whileencouragingcreativity and new ideas to help identify solutions for future challenges with special focus on innovations targeting the community.

Abu Dhabi is the launching point for this month andADEK is the prime coordinator of Innovation month through introducing a series of strategic initiativesas part ofthe UAE’s leaderships vision increatingan innovativehubin coordination with the Abu Dhabi governmental authorities, academic bodies, the private sector and entrepreneurs,showcasing their initiatives and innovations to the community at large.

ADEK’S Chairman thanked the various governmental entities in their role and participation in presenting initiatives and programmes that enhance creativity and talent, while increasing innovative projects that adhere to the UAE’s Innovative Strategy which positions the nation as amongst the best countries in the world in the field of innovation, while achieving the UAE’s 2021 vision.

H.E. Ms. Huda Al Hashmi, Assistant to the Director General for Strategy and Innovation at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs &The Future, said: "The UAE Innovation Month this year is Inspired by the noble values of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, our role model and a source of inspiration, as we celebrate innovation and innovators in all fields.

 “The UAE Innovation month will focus on four aspects inspired from our founding father, including the innovative leader, the creative thinker, the change maker and the inspirational thinker,” said Ms. Al Hashmi, adding that the UAE Innovation Month embodies the highest level of collaboration between federal and local government, private sector leaders and community members, all working towards achieving one goal; spreading a culture of innovation and embedding it into the fabric of businesses and lifestyle. Ms. Al Hashmi praised the efforts of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and ADEK for coordinating the activities of the UAE Innovation Month in the Emirate.

Through organizing and coordinating the Abu Dhabi government’s efforts, ADEK will avail a number of initiatives and events that will stimulate innovation in all fields, celebrate innovative individuals and institutions, and offer an innovative platform contributing to the realization of the Abu Dhabi plan and vision as well as the UAE Centennial 2071. 

Additionally, ADEK will provide strategic initiatives that will contribute to the development of human capital in the science and technology fields in linewith the Abu Dhabi Plan and the UAE Innovation Strategy, and this will instil a spirit of creativity, research, knowledge, and practice to craft a new generation of scientists, innovators, and experts in the field of technology. The UAErepeatedlyassertsits global innovativeleadershipand its unique creativity, progress and prosperity towards a bright future for generations to come.

Eng. Sanad commented: "In the UAE, we take pride in our leadershipwho highly supports innovation and excellence to deliver success and progress. The UAE Innovation Month is a valuable opportunity for innovators to showcase and highlight their creativity amongst institutions and community members.

"During the UAE Innovation Month, ADEKwill organize major strategic initiatives such as Innovator 2018; the Abu Dhabi Science Festival and a week-long interactive program as part of lema?in Abu Dhabi, the Al Ain Region and the Al Dhafra Region;"Program Your Idea"competition and Google Innovation Hub in Al Ain, which will be made available for governmental bodies and community members and will contribute in creating a conducive environment to work, innovate and be distinct,” said Eng. Sanad .

Moreover, during the UAE Innovation Month in Abu Dhabi,over 100 innovators, 25 innovative projects from government and private organizations, 27 science workshops, approximately 7,000 students in school trips and 35,000 visitors are expected to attend. While in Al Ain, 600 students in school trips and 8,000 visitors are expected to attend six interactive workshops organized at three shopping malls. The lema?program is expected to attract over 16,000 students in its various interactive activities and programs.

The Innovator 2018 initiative is a significant platform for innovators, as it celebrates creative ideas and projects, highlights the unique creations of talented visionaries from the UAE community and contributes to the establishment of a culture of innovation in the country. The initiativedraws those of common interest to communicate and share their inventions and innovations to a wider community, as participants are due to highlight their talents and showcase their projects to be assessed according to quality, originality, innovation and social impact criteria’s, and presented to a jury to choose the best three projects competing over the distinctive project winner title.

The Abu Dhabi Science Festival is one of the largest annual science festivals in the region, with exciting, interactive, and educational activities for the whole family, andit contributes to inspiring the emerging generation in the fields of science and technology innovation.

Innovator 2018 will be available for school students from 9 am to 1 pm and will be open to the general public from 4 pm to 10 pm on weekdays and 2 pm to 10 pm on weekends at the Abu Dhabi Corniche and three shopping malls at Al Ain from 1 to 7 February 2018, with free admissions for all.
