His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), received a delegation from the Government of Belize headed by His Excellency Audrey Joy Grant, Minister of Energy, Science and Technology and Public Utilities of Belize.
 
The delegation’s visit aimed to examine ways of strengthening mutual cooperation between the two countries and supporting renewable projects in Belize in line with the development priorities of the Belizean Government.
Welcoming the Belizean Minister and the accompanying delegation, His Excellency Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi stressed that the Belizean delegation’s visit to ADFD provided both sides with an important opportunity to exchange views on development issues and enhance bilateral relations.
 
Briefing the delegation on the key sectors targeted by ADFD’s development program, Al Suwaidi outlined the nature of the projects funded by ADFD, its strategic goals and priorities in development aid, as well as its operational activities covering development funding and investment.

Exploring areas of future cooperation between ADFD and the Government of Belize, Al Suwaidi pointed out that the fund is keen to collaborate with Belize on new projects that can help accelerate economic development in the country, provided the projects are aligned to the strategic objectives of ADFD.

For his part, His Excellency Audrey Joy Grant, Belizean Minister of Energy, Science and Technology and Public Utilities, commended ADFD for its leading role in supporting emerging economies to achieve sustainable economic and social development through funding development projects across vital sectors.

Established in 1971, ADFD is a national organization responsible for assisting developing countries through administering loans and direct grant aid on behalf of the Abu Dhabi government. The fund aims to promote sustainable socio-economic development and private sector growth in target countries. Since its inception, ADFD has overseen the provision of AED64 billion towards financing 425 development projects in 72 countries around the world.
