University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), one of the network of IDP IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test centers in the UAE, will be offering IELTS testing in Ras Al Khaimah, in collaboration with English World, a leading language learning centre located near Safina Roundabout, Ras Al Khaimah.
The first batch from the Ras Al Khaimah centre will sit for the IELTS test on February 23. Thereafter, there will be monthly tests.
Beside the main IELTS centre at the Dubai campus in Knowledge Village, UOWD has a sub-centre in Abu Dhabi launched last year in partnership with ECT. The new Ras Al Khaimah centre will cater to candidates from Northern Emirates.
“There is growing demand for IELTS in the UAE as it is a mandatory requirement for admissions to accredited universities globally as well as for purposes of immigration and employment,” said Shanae Reed, Director, Language Studies Centre, UOWD. “As one of the two global partners authorized to conduct IESTS tests, UOWD (as part of IDP’s global network of test centres) has been constantly striving to offer higher levels of coaching as well as greater convenience to candidates.”
Students wishing to sit an IELTS test in Ras Al Khaimah are required to register with English World. The tests will be conducted in a hotel in Ras Al Khaimah administered by UOWD.
IELTS is a globally recognized and widely accepted test for assessing proficiency in the English language. In the UAE, IELTS tests are compulsory for students seeking admission to universities accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Those who do not meet the minimum English language proficiency requirements cannot be admitted to accredited universities.
UOWD IELTS test centres provide year-round preparatory courses, both full-time and part-time. At UOWD campus in Knowledge Village, the courses are held twice or thrice a month, in Abu Dhabi twice a month and in Ras Al Khaimah once a month as of now.
