Economy Ministry unveils plan to ensure market stability during Ramadan
The Ministry of Economy has launched a plan to boost market stability during the holy month of Ramadan and to provide a perfect environment for the consumers.
Announcing the plan today, Economy Minister Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri said consumer protection comes at the heart of the ministry’s strategies.
"This comprehensive plan is aimed at creating a balance and stability during the holy month," he said.
According to Al Mansouri, the plan identifies four key goals; provision of commodities highly used during Ramadan, preparing for sudden and unjustified increase in consumer products, spreading awareness among consumers and among traders to prevent monopoly and exploitation of the rise in demand during the month.
"The ministry has adopted a mechanism to implement the plan through regular talks with the main suppliers of products, strict monitoring of outlets and encouraging suppliers to import products directly to get better prices."
