Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and Nation Shield, the official journal of the UAE Armed Forces, signed a partnership agreement to promote the 2018 editions of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference (UMEX) and Simulation and Training Exhibition and Conference (SimTEX). As the official media partner of UMEX and SimTEX 2018, the magazine will issue a daily bulletin and exhibitor guide for the dual defence event.
Organised by ADNEC in collaboration with the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces, UMEX and SimTEX 2018 will run from 25 to 27 February 2018 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Speaking on the agreement, Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Group CEO of ADNEC, said: "The partnership aligns with ADNEC's strategy to step up collaboration with national organisations in the public and private sector to ensure the success of UMEX and SimTEX 2018 with the aim of strengthening the UAE's global standing."
Highlighting the growing importance of UMEX and SimTEX as specialised defence shows, he added: "While UMEX focuses on the latest unmanned technologies and their applications across multiple domains of land, air and sea, SimTEX is dedicated to training and simulation systems, providing unparalleled training opportunities for military personnel in a real-life environment. Exhibitors will benefit from the opportunity to showcase their best-in-class training solutions that deliver optimal training outcomes."
For his part, Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf Juma Al Haddad, Chief Editor of Nation Shield, said: "We are proud to support ADNEC as the media partner of UMEX and SimTEX, and look forward to building on the experience gained through our association with their previous editions. Nation Shield is keen to share its unique media expertise with the companies participating in the dual event through offering editorial and advertising space in its daily bulletins. The magazine will also run featured articles and conduct exclusive interviews with heads of companies, industry experts and decision makers, maximising media exposure throughout the event."
He added: "Nation Shield seeks to update its readers on the continued modernisation of our armed forces. Since its first issue in August 1971, the magazine has come a long way in documenting major events and developments witnessed by the UAE and its army, becoming a force to reckon with in its category at a regional level."
In 2016, UMEX and SimTEX attracted 90 companies, up from 34 in the previous edition, registering 160 per cent growth. The last editions of the biennial events also recorded increase in the number of participating countries – from 14 to 23.
