ADM campaign targets beauty centres, children salons and health clubs

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has conducted a campaign targeting ladies’ beauty parlours, children’s salons and health clubs to verify their compliance with the health standards and general conditions regarding the practising of this profession. The move was part of the municipality’s keenness to protect the health of community members, especially with the huge footfall experienced by these service facilities on the eve of Eid.

The campaign, which covered all the districts within the precincts of ADM, targeted salons to verify their compliance with the health stipulations and the use of unlicensed materials, which can pose a threat to visitors of beauty centres and salons, such as the black and white henna, tattooing devices, ear wax and laser. The campaign inspected materials and cosmetics that are expired or do not have product labels with the aim of protecting community members from diseases and monitoring materials and tools used during the congested evening period and the eve of Eid.

During the campaign, the municipality checked the compliance of female staffers with the health conditions and urged them to don their uniform and employ a cleaner for the night shift, especially before Eid due to the huge number of visitors. The municipality stresses the importance of improving the cleanliness of salons, beauty centres and health clubs, which will accordingly avoid providing unhealthy services during congested periods.

The campaign resulted in serving 20 warnings against beauty centres and salons and registering 15 offences against beauty centres/salons and other health clubs. The campaign, which started at the beginning of Ramadan and continued throughout the month, has succeeded in inspecting 526 beauty centres/salons, beauty centres and health clubs in Abu Dhabi and the suburban areas.

The municipality will continue with awareness-raising campaigns at beauty centres/salons, health clubs and children’s salons to educate employees on the importance of implementing the guidelines for their safety and the safety of community members. It obliged them to maintain the cleanliness of their facilities and address key elements such as the provision of security and safety measures like first aid and fire extinguishers.

All types of beauty centres and salons are obliged to comply with all the health stipulations regarding the facility and staff, the proper use of used equipment, and the provision of sterilisation of equipment with the aim of nurturing a healthy and safe environment.

The ADM is keen on monitoring these facilities for the safety and health of community members.
