(3 May 2011)
Steering group established to lead improvement and development of tailored services

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today announced plans to improve services currently offered at Abu Dhabi International Airport for persons with reduced mobility (PRM). The company has established a steering committee with members from ADAC, its subsidiary ADAS, responsible for ground-handling services, and major stakeholders at the airport, including Etihad Airways and the General Civil Aviation Authority, as well as representatives from the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care and Special Needs. The committee will work closely with partners at the airport to implement this project and ensure all passengers can fully enjoy travelling through Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The project encompasses alterations to the airport’s facilities, to cater for the requirements of persons with reduced mobility, and introduction of dedicated PRM services, in line with performance and quality measurement standards as advised by local and international legislators in this field. All staff in direct contact with the travelling public will be trained on disability awareness to assure a highest degree of service levels to passengers.

Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Senior Vice President, Airports Operations at ADAC commented:

“Developing facilities that support the needs of all our passengers, including those with reduced mobility is an integral part of our strategy to further enhance the passengers’ experience at Abu Dhabi International Airport, as well as to act as a socially responsible company. ADAC will chair and manage the PRM steering committee to deliver its targets for improving PRM services by engaging all stakeholders and to support its ambition to become one of the world’s leading airports group.”
