The General Secretariat General of the Khalifa International Date Palm Award (KIDPA) will launch its Fifth Edition on Sunday.

The official announcement launching of the 2012 Edition of the Award will be made during a press conference to be held at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi next week to invite nominations to its five various categories from farmers, producers, researchers, academics from around the world.

The Khalifa International Date Palm Award was established under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as through a presidential decree in 2007.

The Award aims to enhance the status of the UAE in the field of date palm research by virtue of its pioneering role in this field, and to encourage people involved in the cultivation of date palm, including researchers, growers, exporters.
