Yahsatlaunch.ae, the official website for the launch of Yahsat’s first satellite, Y1A, has gone live. The website hosts a series of exciting competitions, including the opportunity for one resident to win a trip to French Guiana in South America to experience the satellite launch first hand.

To enter the competition, UAE residents age 18-25 can log on to the official website and enter a short essay to express their interest in satellite communications and their pride in Abu Dhabi’s first venture into space. The selected winner will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the Arianespace International Spaceport in French Guiana to attend the launch event at the end of this month. The deadline for submissions is 6pm on Thursday, March 17, 2011.

Visitors to the launch website will also have the opportunity to win customized Apple iPads, which will be given away on a weekly basis, by participating in a simple quiz about Yahsat and Y1A.

As the launch approaches, Yahsatlaunch.ae will serve as a valuable resource for the Abu Dhabi public to get engaged and to find information and updates on the satellite and launch process.
