Corniche Hospital Sponsors ’Early Detection’ Seminar For Breast Cancer Awareness Month
(19 October 2010)
Event draws participation from community groups as well as leading representatives from Abu Dhabi’s public healthcare system

Public audiences and Abu Dhabi healthcare practitioners recently came together for an evening symposium highlighting the advancement of breast cancer screening and treatment procedures within the emirate. The ‘Early Detection’ seminar was hosted at Corniche Hospital in support of the ongoing Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities this October being conducted by entities within the SEHA HealthSystem—Abu Dhabi’s largest public healthcare network.

The event began with an introduction from Ronald Lavater, CEO of Corniche Hospital, who said that the hospital has already begun looking at establishing a permanent breast cancer screening program to compliment the services offered through the facility’s Women’s Health Centre.

The discussion was then led by Dr. Marie-Louise Fjallskog (MD, PhD), Consultant in Oncology at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, who presented a number of best practices for women of different age groups while answering questions from the audience.

Among those in attendance were nurses, physicians and directors from throughout the SEHA HealthSystem, of which Corniche Hospital is a part of, and is managed by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA).
