Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Votes For Bu Tinah Island At ADIHEX
(23 September 2010)

His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, voted for Bu Tinah Island, which is competing in an international competition to become one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. H.H Sheikh Mohammed showed his support for Bu Tinah by casting his vote at the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi’s (EAD) booth at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX).

Bu Tinah Island, located around 130 km west of Abu Dhabi, is a unique island and a core area of the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve - the first marine biosphere reserve in the region. In spite of the harsh temperatures and salinity, its habitats and species, including coral, seagrass, dugongs and sea turtles, continue to thrive, making the island an important location and living lab for climate change studies for years to come.

H.H Sheikh Mohammed commended efforts being taken to promote awareness about Bu Tinah Island and Abu Dhabi’s rich biodiversity and urged all those who love the environment and the UAE to vote. The Bu Tinah Voting booth is located at stand H9 – 30, and will be available to voters daily until 25th September, 2010 from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm.
