The Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) and Shell Abu Dhabi have renewed their partnership by signing a new Sponsorship Agreement. Both organisations will continue to cooperate on promoting environmental literacy and public awareness in Abu Dhabi Emirate through EAD’s already existing awareness programmes.
The agreement was signed by H.E Majid Al Mansouri, EAD’s Secretary General, and Dr. Salar Babajan, Chairman and Managing Director, Shell Abu Dhabi at EAD’s Headquarters in Al Mamoura Building.
"We have had a strong partnership in awareness with Shell Abu Dhabi for the past 9 years. So it is only natural that we renew and enhance our partnership with them. EAD’s Enviro-spellathon and its Annual Environment Competition, are just some of the awareness programmes that have been implemented under this partnership," added Al Mansouri.
Al Mansouri added that raising environmental awareness is one of EAD’s top priorities. Since the Agency was established in 1996, EAD has been implementing environmental awareness programmes that target the student population and consist of a winning combination of classroom-based activities and inter-school competitions.
"Our hope has always been in the younger generation. We believe that through them, the general public will become more environmentally aware," he added.
"We are proud of our long-term partnership with the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi. Over the past years, the Environment Agency’s active leadership and programmes have played a vital role in raising awareness about the UAE’s environment. We are, therefore, proud of the role we play and our commitment to support the Agency’s environmental programmes and initiatives," said Salar Babajan, Shell Abu Dhabi Country Chair and Managing Director.
