Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) today released traffic figures for the first quarter of 2010 with a strong +13.8% passenger increase posted at Abu Dhabi International Airport passenger traffic over the same period last year.

Abu Dhabi International also continued to maintain a robust performance on cargo with a +22.2% increase in tonnage during the same period. Aircraft movements for the first three months were also positive, posting a +13.9% increase.

The month of March alone saw similar growth trends with a +13.4% increase in passenger traffic, +23.4% on cargo, and +15.1% on aircraft movements.

The top city destinations from Abu Dhabi, in Q1 2010, were: Bangkok, London, Doha, Manila and Bahrain; representing 21.0% of the total traffic handled by the airport in the first three months.

Ahmad Al Haddabi, Senior Vice President Airports Operations of ADAC said:
“The Q1 passenger and cargo data reflects the continued strength and growth being experienced at Abu Dhabi International Airport and that air traffic, in general, is rebounding strongly, against Q1 2009 figures.

“I would also commend the commitment and performance of the entire ADAC team in continuing to offer world-class services to all our passengers – a fact that was recognised by passengers who recently voted Abu Dhabi International the winner of Skytrax’s Award for “World’s Most Improved Airport 2009”.
