890 Participants Collected 2,700 Kilograms Of Waste Community Spirit Shines As Umm Al Quwain Hosts The 5th Stop Of Clean UAE 2025

The 24th cycle of the Clean UAE campaign, organised by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) under the esteemed patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, made its 5th stop in the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain on 13th December. In collaboration with the Department of Umm Al Quwain Municipalityand Umm Al Quwain Police, the campaign carried forward its momentum with renewed energy, building upon the remarkable successes of earlier stations across the nation.

The Umm Al Quwain edition witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 890participants from diverse backgrounds. Wearing specially designed cotton T-shirts and caps and equipped with cotton gloves and biodegradable garbage bags, these dedicated individuals came together with a shared mission — to safeguard and rejuvenate the natural beauty of their Emirate. Across the designated 5kmsite, the participating volunteers diligently collected 2,700 kg of waste.In addition, 210 kilograms of recyclable materials were segregated and sent to accredited local recycling facilities, demonstrating the campaign’s steadfast commitment to responsible waste management and sustainability.

In her address, Dr. Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG, highlighted the enduring significance of the Clean UAE campaign, which has been mobilising communities since 2002. She emphasised that the initiative promotes sustainable practices across all segments of society and also raises awareness about critical environmental challenges, including resource conservation and waste reduction, recycling and effective waste management. Dr. Al Mar’ashi further noted that the campaign nurtures a culture of environmental stewardship among youth and the wider community, inspiring collective action for a greener and more sustainable future.

She added that the campaign’s growth and widespread participation reflect the UAE’s deepening commitment to sustainability and environmental preservation. Beyond its ecological impact, “Clean UAE” strengthens the social fabric by uniting the society at large with government bodies, private sector organisations, academia and community groups under a shared vision. Dr. Al Mar’ashi reiterated that continuous collaboration and sustained engagement are essential to achieving long-term environmental goals and protecting the nation’s natural ecosystems for generations to come.

H.E. Hiba Al Shehhi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Biodiversity and Marine Life Sector at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. Her attendance provided strong support to the campaign, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to advancing joint environmental action and raising community awareness. It also highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts among various entities to achieve the goals of the Clean UAE Campaign.

Engineer Talal Mohammed Saifan - Head of the Agriculture Department from UAE Municipality praised the campaign’s positive impact, noting that community-led environmental initiatives such as Clean UAE are crucial in fostering civic responsibility, volunteerism and environmental awareness in Umm Al Quwain.

Dr. Al Mar’ashi extended her sincere gratitude to the Main SponsorsMcDonald’s UAE, and Salik, their unwavering support played an instrumental role in ensuring the success of the Dubai launch.

She also acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Support SponsorsCANPACK Middle East, Dubai Investments and Farnek — and expressed appreciation to the Technical Partner, ADNOC, for enabling the smooth operational delivery of the event.
