Students Take Delight In ADMAF Storytelling Event As Part Of The Manchester International Festival
(13 July 2009)

More than 50 students from primary schools within the city of Manchester enjoyed a special Arabian storytelling event last week, as part of the Manchester International Festival. The session was presented by the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), and was led by professional storyteller Alia Al Zougbi, a Beirut native who now lives and works in London as an actor, storyteller, dancer and contemporary performer, and facilitates workshops at major cultural institutions such as the British Museum, schools and festivals.

The event follows a partnership formed with Festival organisers earlier this year, to explore the art of storytelling throughout several countries including the UAE. The event is part of ADMAF’s educational mission to bridge cultures and enhance the arts through performances, workshops and lectures, especially with the involvement of young people.

The event was held at the Manchester Art Gallery within an installation by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid.

The Manchester International Festival is the world’s first festival of original, new work and special events, and takes place biennially in the city of Manchester, UK. The Festival will run until 19 July 2009.
