Arabic Instrument Classes Take Centre Stage At Manarat Al Saadiyat Ramadan Evenings
(8 June 2017)

Visitors to the inaugural Manarat Al Saadiyat Ramadan Evenings can experience the essence of Emirati culture through music, as instructors from Bait Al Oud, the Arabic music institution founded by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, offer qanun and oud lessons in the Circle Stage at the venue.

In an open qanun class by Bait Al Oud teacher Bassam Shiha and his students, the musically inclined can partake in exploring the sound of the Arabic stringed instrument, whose history is said to date back to the 10th century. Adults and children will have the opportunity to interact with the instrument, learning components of its history in a distinctive atmosphere of musical expression.

Bait Al Oud instructors Mohamed Dohai, Sherine Tohami and Mazen Elbager will showcase open oud classes for visitors looking to learn basics of the lute-type pear-shaped string instrument most synonymous with Arabic melodic composition.  The qanun and oud sessions are available throughout the duration of the Ramadan Evenings Programme taking place until 17th June at Manarat Al Saadiyat from 7.30pm-11.30pm.
