UAE To Set Up First F4 Series In MENA
(3 February 2016)

The UAE will be the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to set up a FIA Formula 4 series by the end of this year, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, announced today.

In the UAE's FIA Formula 4 series, to be staged between October 2016-March 2017, will see 18 races staged in 6 legs at Dubai Autodrome and Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina circuit.

Sheikh Nahyan noted that hosting the F4 series, which is sanctioned by the FIA, the international sanctioning and administrative body for motorsport, reflects the global stature the UAE has achieved in motor sports.

It is yet another achievement for the UAE, he noted. Sheikh Nahyan was speaking at a ceremony at the Burj Plaza in Downtown Dubai in the presence of Mohammed bin Sulayem, President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE, organisers of the F4 series in the country.

Launched in 2013 as an open-wheel racing car category intended for junior drivers and a globally recognised yet affordable step between Karting and F3, FIA Formula 4 offers young racing drivers around the world the opportunity to take the first step from karting into the world of single-seater racing.
