(22 October 2014)

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police has revealed that the "Together" campaign organised by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate to reduce traffic accidents, has reached more than 114,000 likes on Facebook.

There were approximately 17,000 followers who followed updates on the GITEX Technology Week on Twitter, where visitors interacted significantly with the live coverage page of the event, as well as the hashtag created within the framework of the campaign, to provide visitors with a variety of information and instructions about traffic safety.
Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police, said,

"Awareness of traffic safety does not start on the road, but long before that. To this end, we have used our different social media accounts as a platform to spread the culture of traffic awareness and encourage people to adopt the correct practices before they take to the road, with a view to ensuring the safety of all road users, motorists and pedestrians alike." Brigadier Al Harithi noted that the 'Together' initiative for Traffic Safety embodies Abu Dhabi's ambitious target of reducing traffic fatalities to zero by 2030, and falls in line with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

Through the 'Together' initiative, the directorate has also introduced several innovative campaigns targeting the various social segments, to spread awareness and reduce inappropriate traffic behaviors among students, families, workers and young people.
