Smuggle Of Drugs Weighing 128. 2 Foiled At Abu Dhabi International Airport

Custom inspectors at the Abu Dhabi International Airport have foiled the smuggle of huge quantity of narcotic poppy seeds weighing 128.2 kg.

They suspected three passengers of a flight that arrived from India. Subjected to the inspection, 52 bags of narcotic poppy seeds, weighing 52 kg were found with the first suspect, an Indian, while the second and third suspects, both Indians, were respectively found out to carry 35.1 kg of narcotic poppy and 41.1 kg of the same drugs.

The three accused were referred to a competent authority.

Hamad A Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Finance praised the vigilance of the custom personnel at the airport to foil all attempts to smuggle drugs and banned materials.

For his part, Ahmed Saeed Al Mohairi, Director General of Custom also lauded the efforts of Custom personnel in keeping the danger at bay.
