Abu Dhabi has been voted ‘Best Luxury MICE Destination of the Year’ at Beijing’s 11th China Travel & Meeting Industry Awards, successfully fending off competition from Cape Town and Monaco.

Organised by leading Chinese travel magazines, Travel Weekly and Events, the awards are considered one of the most influential evaluation platforms in the Chinese tourism industry.

The award comes hard on the heels of Abu Dhabi hosting the inaugural Chinese Visitor Summit earlier this month, which brought more than 75 tier one Chinese buyers and media to the UAE capital to discuss increased business co-operation moving forward.

Abu Dhabi is increasingly tapping into China’s lucrative outbound market. With increased air links out of the People’s Republic to Abu Dhabi - Etihad Airways’ operates non-stop services from Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu while Cathy Pacific flies three-times a week from Hong Kong – TCA Abu Dhabi is reinforcing its presence in the country with more road-shows, online marketing and on-ground engagement via its Abu Dhabi Visitor Centre in Beijing.
