Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and TRA agree to control IT risks
(23 May 2010)

Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) and the UAE Telecommunication Regulation authority (TRA) have agreed to work together to fight IT risks according to new memorandum of understanding signed today by the two parties at the main office of ADJD in Abu Dhabi.

The MoU was signed by Sultan Saeed Al Badi, Undersecretary of ADJD, and Mohamad Naser Al Ghanim, Director General of TRA. The signing ceremony was attended by Yousef Saeed Al Ibri, Abu Dhabi Acting Attorney General.

The rapid growth of information networking and the ever-increasing demand on the Internet-based services have opened the door for a new generation of risks to the information security and privacy. And ADJD recognizes the need for new ways to address these perils and mitigate their consequences upon their occurrence.

"Today, information are saved electronically in data basis. The systems on which those data basis depend are increasingly interconnected over the Internet. This raises important issues regarding the protection of confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of such information," Mr. Al Badi said in the signing ceremony.

"ADJD is very earnest to provide the highest data protection levels. This is very important issue as we work to assure the public about the privacy and integrity of information related to our clients and achieve our goal of winning public trust and confidence," he added.

After signing the MoU, Mr. Al Ghanim stressed the significance of this agreement which will guarantee ADJD a secure IT environment through comprehensive protection of data against all IT risks.

"The TRA’s Computer Emergency Response Team have been working to develop awareness and consultancy programs against IT risks for organizations in the UAE. We are offering our services to improve standards of information and IT infrastructure protection through memorandums of understanding signed.
