Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) announced its participation in the 12th National Career Exhibition 2010 at Expo Centre Sharjah from 24 to 26 February, 2010 where its CEO Mr. Ala’a Eraiqat received the award of Human Resources Development Committee in Banking and Financial Sector for the best achiever banks in Nationalization.

HH Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah presented the award to Ala’a Eraiqat on February 24th in recognition of ADCB’s exceeding the central bank requirements in this field achieving a level of 36 percent Emiritisation in its middle and upper management positions.

ADCB played a key role in the National Career Exhibition 2010 as it looks to expand its ambitious Emiritisation program. The bank’s commitment to Emiritisation comes as part of its desire to help create sustainable economic development in Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

"In spite of the tough business environment during 2009, ADCB was able to maintain its Emiratization strategy and continued to attract, retain, and develop the skills of UAE nationals.

"We at ADCB always endeavour to maintain our position as the employer of choice in the` UAE by developing successful recruitment and internship programs for talented Emiratis." said Sultan Al Mahmood, Head of the Human Resources Department.

"Given the increasing number of qualified graduates in the UAE, ADCB introduced programs to capture rising talent and nurture it into the leaders of tomorrow. The programs are intended to deliver a balance of both theoretical banking concepts as well as practical experience, along with a clear indication of career pathing and personal development".

Elaborating on some of the ADCB’s innovative initiatives in the field of Nationalization, Sultan Al Mahmood mentioned Mahara UAE National Development Program, a four months long intensive training program that prepares trainees to take on full time entry level roles of their choice, covering banking operations, ADCB products, services and organizational structure, customer service and service scenario handling and inter-departmental relations. This program is followed by ATOMS On-The-Job Training, a three-month long practical training on the actual job that the trainee will be supported to complete at a satisfactory level of competence agreed within each business area.

Many fresh graduates and job seekers attended the event, where staff from the bank’s HR department offered career guidance and information on ADCB’s internship programmes. Students also learned about the bank’s sponsorship programmes, which support young people as they are studying, then provides them with the training and support they need to go on to enjoy successful careers in the finance industry.

ADCB showcased a wide variety of vacant positions and career opportunities, and offered guidance on the exciting, challenging careers UAE nationals can enjoy in banking.

"ADCB has set ambitious targets for attracting, training and qualifying young UAE nationals to enable them to play an active role in the sustainable economic development of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in general." Al Mahmood concluded.
