Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority Announces Third Series of Multaqa Zayed National Museum
(18 March 2017)

Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) has announced today the third season of the Multaqa Zayed National Museum series – a lecture programme developed around the narrative of Zayed National Museum exploring topics that make up the cultural tapestry of the UAE. Building on the success of the previous series in 2015 and 2016, Multaqa Zayed National Museum will hold three talks on selected dates from March to May 2017 in Al Jahili Fort, Al Ain and Manarat Al Saadiyat, on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi.

Salama Al Shamsi, Senior Project Manager - Zayed National Museum, at TCA Abu Dhabi said: “The Multaqa Zayed National Museum lecture series aims to explore the rich cultural traditions and practices of the UAE that, have been perpetuated through the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the ‘Father of the Nation,’. Through this series of discussions, we aim to engage the public with topics that will be represented in Zayed National Museum, including the history and development of the UAE whilst allowing us to understand and honour our cultural heritage and explore our connections with the wider world.”

The first lecture in this series will be held on Wednesday, 22 March under the title Horses: Symbol of Identity at Al Jahili Fort, Al Ain. Exploring the Arabian horse as an important symbol of identity in the Arab region, the talk precedes an equestrian performance choreographed by renowned director Bartabas, which will feature horsemen and horses from the prestigious National Equestrian Academy of Versailles and will take place in Al Jahili Fort on 23 – 25 and 27 – 28 March. Throughout history, horses were exchanged as prestigious gifts between rulers as an expression of their mutual respect. This talk explores Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan’s (Zayed the First) Arabian horses.
