Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority To Host Regional Middle East Fraud Conference In Abu Dhabi For The First Time
(1 July 2017)

The Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority, ADAA, has announced that Abu Dhabi will host the ‘ACFE Fraud Conference Middle East’ in February 2018. The conference will gather various experts and specialists from the region and across the globe to discuss and exchange knowledge on fraud and corruption.

The announcement comes after the recent signing of an MoU between ADAA and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, ACFE, taking on hosting duties for the 3rd Regional Middle East Conference. The 2018 edition will be the third time that the UAE has held the event, but a first the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of ADAA highlighted the importance of the conference in encouraging the exchange of knowledge, experience and best practices to help combat fraud and corruption, specifically in light of current financial technology development, the global landscape of electronic security and today’s more digital and economic form of globalisation.

Al Suwaidi emphasised the need to take necessary measures to combat fraud including, counterfeit virtual currency and corruption, by ensuring the safety and integrity of information networks and providing stronger financial and administrative controls.

"The Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority’s hosting of the ‘Fraud Conference Middle East’ comes within the framework of the authority’s strategy to improve performance, accountability and transparency. Under this strategy, ADAA is looking to implement best practices to improve the validation of financial reports and the compliance of subject entities to all relevant laws, regulations, rules and governance to promote and achieve accountability," he added.

"The signing of the memorandum of understanding is in line with the directives of the Government of Abu Dhabi and the mission of the authority in promoting ethical practices within the public sector through its efforts to spread a culture of awareness about financial crimes to detect and stop any improper financial transaction. This supports the country's economy and contributes to attracting foreign investment in legal ways through best international practices," the ADAA Chairman concluded.
