ADNEC Sets Stage For 16th World Conference On Tobacco Or Health

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) is gearing up to host the 16th World Conference on Tobacco OR Health (WCTOH 2015), the largest international gathering of tobacco control advocates, policy makers, researchers, public health and clinical experts from 17 – 21 March, 2015.

Attracting over 3,000 delegates from around the world, the upcoming edition of the triennial event will be themed ‘Tobacco and Non-Communicable Diseases’, and highlight for the first time the risk factors of non-communicable (chronic) diseases associated with tobacco use. The five-day scientific conference will highlight the latest developments in tobacco control and global efforts to reduce tobacco use in all its forms through featuring more than 800 scientific presentations and discussions.

Organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the World Conference on Tobacco or Health in association with the Emirates Cardiac Society, the conference will include symposia, workshops, post-graduate courses, plenary sessions, credit training programmes of Continuing Medical Education (CME), webcasts, and ‘Meet the Experts’ sessions, among others.  

Sessions at the conference will examine latest advances in science and policy discussions across a range of global tobacco control issues including tobacco control and NCDs, tobacco taxation, health hazards posed by smoking water pipe tobacco, tobacco packaging, ENDS (e-cigarettes), the impact of trade treaties and the voices of tobacco victims, among others.

The congress will be addressed by an elite group of prominent speakers including Her Royal Highness Princess Dina Mired, the Director General of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Health, South Africa, Dr James Reilly TD, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Ireland, Margaret Chan, Director General WHO, Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, US Surgeon General, as well as Michael R Bloomberg, the founder and CEO of Bloomberg L P, among others. 

ADNEC offers 133,000 sq m of inter-connected floor space to match the expectations of a wide variety of events and exhibitions. Equipped with modern facilities and built to international standards, the venue attracted 1.6 million people across 327 events in 2014.
