FGB Highlights Careers In Finance To UAE Nationals At Tawdheef 2013
(28 January 2013)

As part of its ongoing determined efforts to enhance Emiratisation rates within the UAE’s banking sector, the major leading UAE financial institution First Gulf Bank (FGB) will be highlighting career opportunities in finance to Emirati youth through its participation in Abu Dhabi’s ‘Tawdheef 2013’ career fair (January 29-31, 2013).

In addition to providing more information on the bank’s different training programmes and Emiratisation initiatives, FGB employees will also conduct interviews during the fair for a number of training vacancies in its Nujoom Management scheme and Summer Training Programme. Another set of interviews will also be held for more experienced candidates for available positions in the bank’s different departments, including Retail and Branch Banking, Corporate Banking, Operations, Treasury- front office, IT, and the Communications/Marketing Department.

Commenting on FGB’s participation in ‘Tawdheef 2013’, Abdulrahman Saqr, Senior Vice President of HR and Head of Emiratisation at FGB, said: “First Gulf Bank is going beyond traditional Emiratisation efforts to actively increase the numbers of UAE Nationals employed in the banking sector. Our participation in this career fair gives us the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Emirati job seekers and talk to them about the exciting opportunities open to them in our industry. We hope to learn more about them and provide tailored career guidance, in addition to highlighting what we as a bank can offer UAE National jobseekers as potential employees. We are committed to our community and to the vision of our leadership, and will continue to push forward our efforts in this area in 2013 and beyond.”

FGB boasts a range of programmes specifically designed for training UAE Nationals, including its Nujoom Management scheme for fresh graduates, which is currently in its second phase and has housed 39 participants to date. The 18-month programme exposes participants to real-life work scenarios, guidance and mentoring. The bank also offers a six- week Summer Training Programme which enables participants to experience a real working atmosphere in a bank, in addition to educating them on the banking industry in general.

FGB recently opened its First Gulf Bank Business School to enhance the financial and banking skills of its employees and to help drive forward Emiratisation initiatives. The new institution falls in line with FGB’s long-term strategy to continuously invest in its employees and their growth and to promote best practices within the banking sector in the UAE.
