Flexible workplace reshaping Abu Dhabi’s office market

With more than half of UAE employees working remotely every week, demand for flexible, convenient and connected work space solutions is growing in Abu Dhabi, according to leading global workspace provider, Regus. The company has recorded its strongest year on record for its offerings in the capital city, and is set to open three new business centres serving on-shore licence holders by the third quarter of this year. In the first half of 2018, Regus recorded more than 50 per cent increase in demand for its offering in Abu Dhabi compared to the same period last year. The firm says Abu Dhabi-based businesses are increasingly looking to save money on lengthy leases and offer staff greater freedom in where and when they work.

The three new centres are located in key business areas in Abu Dhabi, Al Bateen, Al Mussafah and Al Reem Island all offering prestigious addresses for businesses, whether start-ups, small or medium-sized enterprises or multinational corporations. The new centres provide flexible workspaces that free businesses to work more flexibly and the ability to work wherever they like. Workspace options include private offices, co-sharing workspaces, a variety of meeting rooms, and full connectivity, thanks to state-of-the-art technology services.

Mr. Vassilis Bazinis, Country Manager UAE, Regus said: “There is a huge shift in the workspace landscape globally and Abu Dhabi is no exception. Businesses are recognising that offering flexible working strategies to their employees provided them with significant benefits. We pioneered flexible workplaces 30 years ago and now we are leading the workplace revolution helping businesses make flexibility work for them and their people.”

According to a recent study by International Workplace Group (IWG), the parent group of leading workspace companies including Regus, 60 per cent of UAE workforce skip the office to work elsewhere and over 50 per cent do so for at least half of the week, heralding a major reassessment of corporate real estate. The UAE study was part of a comprehensive global study based on the insights of over 18,000 business people across 96 companies.

The survey also found that flexible working not only reduces commuting time, but enhances productivity, staff retention, job satisfaction and even creativity. This is in addition to the financial and strategic advantages that it brings for businesses.

As a truly global network with over 3,000 locations in more than 100 countries, Regus serves 2.5 million members worldwide. In addition to making the latest workspace infrastructure available, Regus also provides administrative support for its members, ensuring all contact with a company’s customers is both professional and personal, and helping to minimize the operational costs of hiring fulltime admin staff.

Earlier this year, Regus opened its first dual-licence business centre in Dubai serving both free zone and on-shore Dubai licence holders as well as in Jumeirah Lakes Tower business centre in Dubai. This demonstrates the rapid evolution of workplace environments in the UAE and mirrors the current global trends of working from multiple locations and developing co-sharing and collaborative spaces that encourage networking.
