’The National’ celebrates 10th anniversary
The National, a leading UAE English-language daily, will gather thought leaders at its Future Forum event in the capital on Tuesday, marking the commencement of a 12-month initiative that examines how advancements in technology and societal developments will impact our future.nSarah bin Yousef Al Amiri,Minister of State, will be the keynote speaker at the Future Forum, to be held at Manarat Al Saadiyat on Al Saadiyat Island The forum builds on the UAE leadership’s visionary efforts, to incorporate and develop the most advanced ideas and technologies in the UAE, with the target to make it the best country in the world.
At The National’s Future Forum, speakers and attendees will discuss what is needed for countries and organisations to best position themselves in a rapidly-evolving world.
The Future Forum also coincides with The National’s tenth anniversary and builds on its ground-breaking coverage since its relaunch, under the ownership of International Media Investments, in July last year. The forum will cover a variety of topics including the Future of Human Enhancement, the Future of Cities, the Future of Connectivity, the Future of Infrastructure and the Future of Money.
Among those addressing the gathering will be Olivier Oullier, President of EMOTIV, the world leader in mobile neuro-informatics; Reuben Abraham, CEO of IDFC Institute, a think/do tank set up by India’s largest infrastructure finance company; Jassim Alseddiqi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Financial Group; Loubna Hadid, Founder and CEO at Decenture, a socially conscious Blockchain enterprise; and Katherine Garrett Cox, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Gulf International Bank (UK) Ltd.
A panel discussion taking place at the forum about the Future of News includes Tom Thomson OBE, Future News WorldWide and Board member of the British Council and Raju Narisetti, a media executive with a track record in creating, rethinking and managing major media organizations in North America, Europe and Asia.
As part of the initiative, following the Future Forum’s conclusion, The National will produce and publish content related to the future over the next year. This will include regular commentary, specialised contribution and a series of videos on the future with international leaders in various fields. Over the next 12-months The National will also convene discussions, taking the conversation forward. A special episode of the Business Extra podcast has also been produced in partnership with US podcast programme Global GoalsCast and will focus on the Future of Investment, related to the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
