UAE National Team Looks To Win Cyber Games Championship At WGC 2010
Golden Systems Middle East, the leading distributor of IT products in the Middle East, today announced that together with its vendor-partners ZOTAC and NVIDIA, it has sponsored the UAE’s National Team for the Open Championship of the World Game Championship (WGC) 2010, which is being held at the South Galleria of Mall of the Emirates from 27th till 30th October, 2010.
The UAE National team, which comprises of some of the best cyber gamers from different Emirates of the country, is looking forward to bringing home the Championship title of the biggest gaming event in the region.
The World Game Championship (WGC), which is organised in strategic partnership with the World Cyber Games, is also known as the Olympics of cyber gaming. The WGC has brought the UAE National Team to the games since 2008. The third edition of the tournament, which is supported by Zotac International, the world’s No.1 manufacturer of graphic cards, motherboard & mini-PCs and NVIDIA, the renowned Graphic Processing Unit inventor as the Gold Sponsors, will see cyber athletes from across the globe competing for the coveted title.

The gaming industry in the region has seen a surge in the past few years. The Middle East region is currently seen as the next booming gaming economy, with the very young population of high purchasing power and the increase rate of internet penetration. Not to mention, that the hot summer months are creating a revenue stream for the industry in indoor sports. As stated in the Price Waterhouse Cooper research predicting the growth of the gaming industry US$11.1 Billion to US$15.4 Billion by year 2011.
