Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC)

Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) is a public joint-stock company incorporated by Emiri Decree number 5, to spearhead the development of the Emirate’s aviation industry. ADAC’s creation was in tandem with an ambitious restructuring initiative launched by the Government of Abu Dhabi, aimed at delivering better government services to support the Emirate’s long-term strategy to transform into a centre for business and tourism. The creation of ADAC marks a milestone in the development of aviation industry in the UAE and the region. An ambitious multi-billion dollar programme is already underway to transform the existing Abu Dhabi Airport into "a best in class" facility that can effectively cater to the needs of the Emirate’s prospective growth. ADAC will operate and maintain airports facilities and infrastructure to world-class standards. It will oversee airport services rendered by private firms and other stakeholders. Provides the Emirate’s airports with technical and management services to appropriate international standards of efficiency. ADAC will establish and run free zones. Thales Middle East Support Centre will also be set up at Airport Business & Logistics Park .Abu Dhabi Airports Company announced that Thales, a world leader in mission-critical information systems for the Aerospace, Defence and Security markets has been given the contract to fit out Abu Dhabi International Airport’s new air traffic control centre tower (ATCC). The Thales systems will integrate the most advanced ATM automation features needed for world leading air traffic control as well as airport ground control systems and aeronautical information systems (AIS) and messages switching. The new 109m, 20-storey tower will be situated in between the existing and the new second runway, which went operational on 12 October 2008, and will take over the role as the nerve centre of the new airport development from the existing tower which stands over Terminal 1. The decision of Thales to set up its Middle East Support Centre at the airport demonstrates the importance of our facility as a major gateway to the world.
